In my artistic practice, I explore a multitude of modalities, encompassing drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and design. This multifaceted approach not only embodies my work ethic but also underscores the critical importance of lineage in my creative development, offering extensive opportunities for academic enrichment grounded in foundational techniques. My educational journey is deeply rooted in the teachings of Hans Hofmann through several degrees of mentorship. I am a protégé of Tim Harney, who studied under John Grillo, a distinguished pupil of Hofmann alongside notable contemporaries such as Richard Diebenkorn, Alexander Calder, and Mark Rothko. My alma mater, Montserrat College of Art, maintains a direct connection to Hofmann’s pedagogical legacy through instructors such as Oliver Balf and Paul M. Scott, the latter having served as one of Hofmann’s monitors. Additionally, Joseph Jeswald, another prominent academic figure in my education, was a student of Fernand Léger, further enriching the artistic lineage that informs my practice. This network of mentorship underpins my continuous search for 'the real' in art, a concept central to Hofmann's philosophy that emphasizes authentic expression through dynamic interplay of form and color.
